The piece that stays on the knob

A door hanger has to hang on a knob until someone takes it inside. Home services use it for a seasonal offer. Restaurants use it for a special the household sees without opening a mailbox. Real estate teams use it for an open house on that street. Retailers use it when the point is a coupon someone brings back to the store. You put the hangers on the doors. We print them.

If the offer should travel in the mail, quote a postcard or mailer. A flat handout with no hole is a flyer. A hanger is the tall, narrow piece with a cut that lets it sit on a knob.

Size, the die, and the coupon

You set the finished size. A tall coupon hanger to spec is 3.5 by 11 inches: narrow enough for a knob, with room for a message and a panel at the bottom. If your art uses another trim, write that size on the quote. We will not treat 3.5 by 11 as the default.

Tell us how it hangs. A round hole, an entry slit, or both, and where that cut sits. A hole through the headline ruins the piece. Then say what the bottom should do: a coupon the household tears off, a perforation so the tear is clean, or an offer that stays on the hanger. We confirm the die and any perforation on the quote, before a proof. Those cuts are part of what you are buying.

Stock and sides are yours too. Say how stiff the sheet should feel — it has to hold its shape on a knob — and pick a finish, matte or gloss. One side or two. Two sides can put the offer on the front and the details or a phone number on the back. The hole has to land in the same place on both.

A short run, or a hanger that changes by offer, fits digital printing. A long run of one identical hanger is the sort of work offset printing is used for. Describe the quantity and how many versions. The quote names the process.

We price the job and send a proof that shows the art and the cuts together. We print after you approve, then ship the hangers anywhere in the United States.

Hanging them is not part of the order. We do not drop them at doors. The cartons come to you, or to the offices you list if the shipment should split.

Keep the offer out of the hole

Build each side to the finished size plus bleed, and put the hole, the slit, and any perforation on their own cut paths. The headline, the phone number, and the coupon copy have to sit clear of those cuts. A panel meant to tear off needs its own margin, so the edge left behind still looks finished. Send a PDF for every side you want printed.

Graphic design and prepress can draw that die, place the coupon panel, and check that nothing important falls into the cut. Send the artwork and a note about how the hanger should hang. The proof should show the hole and the tear, not only the front.
